6 Steps To Accomplishing And Setting Your Drumming Aims

Kerry Jacobson

Written by Kerry Jacobson We've all heard about aims before? We've heard the 1979 Harvard study that showed only 3 percent of the MBA graduates had written down their objectives, which they earned 10 times more income than those who didn't have targets at all, and earned twice the amount of people who had goals but never wrote them down.

This is true with your success that is drumming ! Having clearly defined goals and aims is the fastest and surest.

1) Ascertain Your Vision

This is the step that is most important. If you don't know exactly what you want, how are you going to get it?

Just take some time to really figure this out, and also have fun with it. What do you want to make to your everyday experience? As soon as you get this done, it becomes a lot more clear what sort of drum career you want.

Write down everything you would like your lifetime as a whole to look like, as well as the specific drumming skills and experiences you desire. What type of drummer would you wish to be? Would you prefer to play grooves? The craziest fills? Be the quickest, most versatile? Whatever you crave, make it your attention as you practice.

2) Make A Decision

This is important on many distinct levels. Creating a genuine decision informs your subconscious mind which you're dedicated and serious. The ball immediately gets rolling As soon as a decision is made by you. This does not mean that challenges will not arise, or your path won't take turns, but it means you are committed to becoming whatever you set your mind to, whatever your future vision is.

Technically speaking, if you decide that you're going to be the best drummer on the planet, you are setting yourself up for failure. There's no actual method to quantify this, since it is a matter of opinion. If, however, you determine that you will have the ability to play any graph or play with a dual paradiddle as a fill at 160 bpms as note triplets, this is quantifiable and accessible.

3) Require Action

This is. They develop all these strategies and intentions as they learn to play the drums, but not take the action that is necessary to accomplish them.

We can become fearful. But the truth is that we must act first motivation follows. You know the Saying Just do it!â$Â Every day, do one activity that will bring you closer to your goals. Rome wasn't built in a day. Brick by brick, and my friend.

4) Measure /Track

Keep track. This is so often overlooked, but critical to success. A personal drum teacher's entire task is to help keep track of your progress, provide your greater goals to enhance, when attained, and to observe those benchmarks.

Keeping track seem time-consuming in the beginning and could be overwhelming, but I assure you, it is going to help save time in the long run. You'll be 100% more focussed, and also your clinic period will be cut in half! You feel more accomplished because you'll actually understand exactly what you've done for the previous hour or 2 and may progress 10 times quicker.

Give yourself time to adjust and get used for this process, but don't overlook its significance. All successful people in all areas of life â$" be it sports, music, or company -are very careful to not waste any moment, and they track and quantify everything. It is equally as important to drumming on achievement.

5) Set Benchmarks

Big goals are necessary and great, but when we don't have benchmarks it's easy to throw in the towel when the going gets rough. I love to establish five-year objectives, one-year goals, monthly goals, and weekly goals. This makes it a lot easier to work out exactly what small actions to take to become huge results.

Giving yourself benchmarks that are smaller makes success more enjoyable and more attainable. Decide on some rewards that you will give yourself. They may be small or big, but always celebrate every success and each.

6) Adjust

Now it's time to enjoy your successes. Take time to really look back on your progress. It may seem difficult to believe it was a challenge at all, when we finally reach something we've been working on.

It's time to correct them as your tastes change and grow, and then create new ones, As soon as you reach your goals.

Thank you for investing your time. I invite you to give these steps a try if you are not already -that I know when you do you will see results that are massive. And remember: they aren't something to do once then forget. They're tools to work with everyday, in every field of life.
